Spotting and merging duplicates

Vinyl Crate Space checks for duplicates as you add. When you add a record you already own, it recognises the release and shows Record Already Exists rather than quietly adding a second copy.

From there you decide. If it’s the same record, tap Cancel to keep the one you’ve got. If it’s in your other collection, the app offers to Move it across instead of duplicating. And if you genuinely want a second entry, tap Create Duplicate.

That last case matters: if you own two copies, a first pressing and a reissue, say, that’s not a mistake, and Create Duplicate is how you catalogue both. There’s no single “copies” count, so each lives as its own record; a tag or a note on each is the easiest way to tell them apart.

There’s no tool to merge two records that are already in your collection, and the automatic check works from each record’s release match, so two entries typed in by hand can still slip through.
