Deleting your account and your data

Permanently remove your collection and personal data, and what it means for shared plans.

We’d rather you stayed, but your data is yours, and so is the decision.

Before you start: cancel your subscription

If you subscribed through the App Store or Google Play, cancel there first. Only you can cancel a store subscription, we cannot do it for you, and deleting your account does not stop the billing on its own. The delete screen shows a warning and a link straight to the right store page if this applies to you. See Upgrading, downgrading or cancelling for the steps.

If you subscribed on the web, we cancel it for you as part of the deletion, at the end of the period you have already paid for.

How to delete your account

  1. Go to Preferences and tap Delete my account at the bottom of the screen.
  2. Read the summary of what happens. It is written in plain language and worth a moment.
  3. Type your email address to confirm. This is deliberate friction, so nobody deletes a collection by mistake.
  4. Confirm once more in the final dialog.

You can also reach the instructions at app.vinylcratespace.com/delete-account without signing in.

What happens straight away

  • You are signed out everywhere, on every device, immediately.
  • Your account stops working. Signing back in is not possible.
  • We email you a confirmation that states the exact date your data is permanently deleted.

The 30-day safety net

Your data is kept for 30 days and then permanently deleted. Nothing can be recovered after that date.

If you change your mind inside those 30 days, email support@vinylcratespace.com from the address on your account and we will bring your account and your collection back. You will need to email us, because you can no longer sign in to reach the in-app form.

One part of it a restore cannot undo: if you owned a shared plan, the members who were moved out to their own accounts stay there, and they would need fresh invitations to rejoin you. Everything of your own comes back intact.

What gets deleted

Everything you added: your records, notes, listens, ratings, wishlist, tags, crates, storage locations, your uploaded photos, and your account itself.

If you share a plan

If you own the plan, deleting your account does not delete anyone else’s collection. Every other member is moved to their own free account first, and their records, notes, listens, tags, crates and locations move with them. Any invitations you had sent that nobody had accepted yet are withdrawn. See How shared collections work on Duet and Band plans for how the shared collection differs from your own.

If you are a member of someone else’s plan, you are moved out of the household as part of the deletion. The rest of the plan immediately stops seeing your own collection, while records already in the plan’s shared collection stay with the plan, because they belong to it rather than to you. Leaving or being removed from a shared plan covers the same move without the deletion.

If you would rather not delete

Downgrading to the free plan keeps your collection. We never delete your records for being over a plan’s limit: if your catalogue is larger than the free plan allows, it becomes read-only until you are back within the limit, and everything stays exactly where it is. Upgrading, downgrading or cancelling walks through it.
