Leaving or being removed from a shared plan
How to leave a shared plan, and exactly which records come with you.
Shared plans change over time. Someone joins, someone leaves, or the plan owner moves on. Here’s what happens to the collection.
The shared collection belongs to the plan, and the plan belongs to the owner, whoever set it up and pays for it.
Leaving on your own
If you’re a member, open Preferences → Household and tap Leave Household. You’ll get a confirmation step before anything happens.
Owners can’t leave, because the household is their account. If you own the plan and want out, cancel the subscription instead: see Upgrading, downgrading or cancelling.
Being removed by the owner
- In Preferences → Household, the owner taps Remove next to a member.
- After a quick confirmation, that person leaves the household straight away.
There’s no waiting period either way, and ownership can’t be transferred to another member.
What comes with you
You land on your own Free plan, and you don’t leave empty-handed:
- Your Private collection comes with you, along with its notes, listens, ratings and favourites
- Your wishlist comes with you
- You get a copy of the household’s locations, crates, genres and tags, so nothing you organised by is lost
Records you added to the Shared collection stay there for the rest of the household. That’s the one part that belongs to the plan rather than to you.
If you’d been in the household before and had an account of your own, that account comes back with its records intact rather than starting you from scratch.
One thing to watch: the Free plan holds 30 records. If you bring more than that with you, nothing is deleted, but your collection is read-only until you upgrade or trim it back. See What happens if you go over your record limit.
